After covering Heidi May’s maternity leave, Laura Macy has now joined Ashgate on a permanent basis as Senior Commissioning Editor for Music Studies. Heidi returns to Ashgate at the end of April, and Laura and Heidi will be working alongside each other on the music list.

Laura holds a PhD in musicology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and taught for several years in universities in the United States. Her own research is on early modern Italian music. She came to the UK in 1997 to work on the then-forthcoming second edition of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, and never looked back!

Laura will be developing the music list’s coverage of early music topics and welcomes book proposals.
