Educating Professionals: Practice Learning in Health and Social Care

We were pleased to see a nice review of Educating Professionals: Practice Learning in Health and Social Care in a recent issue of the British Journal of Social Work.

Doel and Shardlow’s edited book addresses a need for comparative knowledge in respect of a core element of professional education: practice learning. While there have been various texts that consider uni-professional aspects of workbased, practice-based or placement learning, drawing together a multiprofessional compendium of such curriculum elements in health social care has awaited this volume…  As the GSCC has moved towards inculcating interprofessional learning and experience through practice, an examination of the ways in which other professions and disciplines seek to educate students in practice assumes greater importance.

Educating Professionals is edited by Mark Doel, Sheffield Hallam University, UK and Steven M. Shardlow, University of Salford, UK, and is available in paperback and hardback.
