Is it too soon to be thinking about next year’s UK entry for Eurovision? Derek Scott has the perfect song…

Derek Scott has studied the Eurovision Song Contest over many years, and has been particularly interested in what kind of songs are successful. He has come up with the “perfect” Eurovision song, which you may have heard him discussing on Radio 4’s Today programme last Friday.

You can see a video of Professor Scott discussing Eurovision, and hear his song, on the University of Leeds’ video channel. We think it’s a winner! One for the UK in 2012?

Professor Scott is the editor of The Ashgate Research Companion to Popular Musicology, which was a Choice Outstanding Academic Title for 2010. He is also the General Editor of the Ashgate Popular and Folk Music Series.
