Alison McQueen, author of the prize-winning Empress Eugénie & the Arts: Politics & Visual Culture in the 19th Century, recently attended the prize-winners ceremony in Paris.

Alison reported, ‘The ceremony was a great event held in the sumptuous nineteenth-century rooms of the Palace of Foreign Affairs on the Quai d’Orsay in Paris.  I am honoured to receive this prestigious prize from the Fondation Napoléon.  Such recognition of my scholarship is very meaningful coming from the notable members of the jury, which included Professors Bruno Foucart and Jean Tulard.’
