Charles Dickens reaches his 200th Birthday

Today marks the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens, arguably the best-loved of nineteenth-century authors, an anniversary that is being celebrated around the world: 24-hour ‘readathons’, celebrity readings from his works, special church services, conferences, and a myriad of other events are scheduled.

Ashgate is participating in the festivities by offering our customers a 20% discount on all Dickens titles (until the end of 2012), including A Library of Essays on Charles Dickens, forthcoming this August, Dickens and Empire, Dickens and the Rise of Divorce, and Commodity Culture in Dickens’s Household Words, to name just a few.

To get the 20% discount you need to enter a special discount code, which you can find on our Dickens devoted webpage,  www.ashgate.com/Dickens, where you can also download our anniversary leaflet. This page will be continually updated throughout the year with Dickens-related commemorations supported by Ashgate.

We would love to hear from you if you are working on a monograph or essay collection on Dickens or another nineteenth-Century topic. For information on submitting a proposal, please contact the commissioning editor Ann Donahue.
